Malaysian culture and history is an integral part of the Social Studies curriculum in our school. Within this program, Social Studies provides coordinated, systematic study of Civics, Geography, History as well as Malaysian History. One of the primary goals of Social Studies is to help our students acquire knowledge and understating of the Malaysian culture and traditions.
To acquaint our students with the unique art of Batik, we arranged a trip to attend the MY Batik workshop in Kuala Lumpur. Batik is a type of technique used to draw elaborate patterns using wax on a piece of cloth. The Malaysian batik is also famous for its geometrical designs, such as spirals. This workshop included Batik demonstration and a Batik colouring workshop. Not only students had a hands on experience creating Batik but also received a certificate from the MY Batik centre.
