Kindergarten

Some children are eager to learn and to join the world of the bigger kids who already go to school. However, much like other big steps in life, starting school can arouse different feelings. In our kindergarten, we aim to provide a nurturing environment that promotes the development of a child’s emotional, social, intellectual and physical skills – a home away from home! We want our children to know that going to school is like discovering a new world, but not one that is completely unfamiliar.

With a view to providing a creative and stimulating environment for our children, we have implemented the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) in Kindergarten. Based on research, global best practice and the developmental needs of children age 2.5 – 5, the IEYC supports key areas of learning through enquiry and play-based approaches, encompassing all curriculum areas, including personal, social and emotional development. In effect, placing the child at the heart of the curriculum, ensuring that learning is personalized and that the curriculum effectively ‘wraps around’ the needs and interests of the child.

This flexible curriculum contains units of learning based around exciting themes. These units aim to capture children’s natural curiosity as a starting point and within an enabling environment, balance child-initiated and teacher-scaffolded learning. Through the IEYC, each child will have their own unique learning journey and develop the ability to:

• communicate clearly
• work collaboratively
• think critically and creatively
• embrace differences

Our kindergarten classes are structured as follows:

• Early Learners (2.5-3 year-old)
• KG1 (3-4 year-old)
• KG2 (4-5 year-old)

Kindergarten Afterschool Care Programme

Afterschool Care is offered for Kindergarteners, Year 1 and Year 2 students until 5.30pm (Mondays – Fridays).
